Is it more important to Get an Extra Hour of Sleep or a Workout?

If you had to pick one… an extra hour of

SLEEP OR WORKOUT

Which one would you choose??

Which one do you think is more important??

Sleep and exercise are both incredibly important for your body, but if you have to choose one it has to be sleep!

Most adults need 7–9 hours of sleep!  Yep you read that right!! The reason is if you want optimal performance, memory retention AND good health…. you need to get that 7-9 hours!

Achieving AND getting that sound night’s sleep is largely dependent on your commitment to your body’s circadian rhythm, which is when we normally go to bed and wake up.

A Northwestern study showed our muscles also follow that circadian cycle, meaning if you’re working out during the time when you’re normally asleep, your muscle repair will be less efficient.

Exercise….

 improves brain performance

Working out sharpens your memory

Burns calories!

More muscle mass = burning more fat while resting

boosts the immune system and promotes proper sugar levels in the blood.

It is good for the normal functioning of bones and protection against osteoporosis.

Risks of high blood pressure, heart ailments, and even cancer are reduced with a regular dose of exercise

When you have to choose….  do a short workout. A short workout is better than no than  workout.

If you have only 10 minutes, do a quick workout at home with exercises like squats, jumping jacks and planks. There are even also lots of apps that can give you a quick workout for a specific time frame using only your bodyweight.

Get healthy!!!
